Nelson Family Newsletter 2009
Sarah and Brent – Sarah and Brent celebrated their 3 year Anniversary together. Brent is still working for KB Distributing and just really enjoys driving his Big Rig. Brent helped his Uncle Leon re-build an old car. It’s been a lot of work but he enjoyed every minute of it. This year mom helped us buy a Travel Trailer to go camping in. We took it up the mountain and left it for the summer. He also grew a garden and for the first time we planted potatoes. They were delicious if I might add. We also grew corn and tomatoes and all the other yummy veggies, I don’t know if this was the year for us in gardening. We did have a lot of peaches this year though. We took one Saturday and it was all about bottling them. Needless to say we are so done with peaches. We made homemade Jam to it was really yummy. Sarah recently ended her service on the Head Start Policy Council. She really enjoyed being a part of such a great program. She says it really brought her out of her quiet shell. She also got a job at the SUU Head Start helping as a Lunch Aid. Sarah has really kicked off her Scrapbooking with her Cricut. She has made so many pages now she just has to put pictures on all of them and she will be doing good.

Samuel - Samuel is now 5 and in Kindergarten. His teachers name is Mrs. Werber and he just loves school and is doing very well with Writing, the Alphabet and Counting. Sam is starting Math, he always asks me what 5+5 is and I say I don’t know so he tells us the answer. He is getting so smart. He loves going to school every day. Sam has made a lot of new friends this year in class. He also loves to ride the bus in the morning. He gets mad if mommy takes him to school. This year while Brent has been helping Leon with the car Sam has been going out to play with his cousin Sophie. Can I tell you how much he loves to play with her? We also have been spending a lot of time with Maddysen.
Brian - Brian is now 12 and definitely hitting the teenage years. Please help us lol. He is in the 6th grade and still really enjoys reading. He has joined band this year and is playing the Clarinet. He has really come far with learning to play, we were surprised but he really can play it. He is in a new school this year Canyon View Middle School. He really enjoys it and gets to hang out with MORE of his friends. He still really enjoys Skateboarding and for Christmas he really wants one of those long boards. We will see what (SANTA) brings him.
Makayla - Makayla is 9 and in the 4th grade. She played soccer this fall and just loved playing soccer. She got really good at it. She didn’t really like being goalie she liked running around. She is also learning how to play the piano and getting really good. Makayla is also in a group called First Bloom. She gets to about different Trees and what can be done with them. She really enjoys going to that.

Merry Christmas and Earnest the Elf

Hey everyone. I hope everyone is having wonderful Christmas Season. The following pictures are of Earnest the Elf, that comes to visit our family every year in December.He watches the kids and reports to Santa on a nightly basis. He will leave on Christmas Eve until next year, when he returns on December 1st. We caught him the other day getting a cookie out of our cookie jar. What a naughty Elf, but we did call Santa and he said that Earnest was just doing quality control on the cookies and making sure they tasted good. So earnest wasn't in trouble.

McRae and Tuffs Fall Pics

I had a great time visiting Kaylyn, Joe and Maleah in Logan. Kaylyn's friend Delia took these photos of McRae and Tuff. She Also took some photos of Maleah but I will let Kaylyn post those. Going to visit Garth and Steph was also very fun, their house is very cute especially with all their hard work.

Christmas List

I know it Christmas more than 2 months away. It never hurts to be prepared early going into the holiday season. So I thought I would post what I remember as who has who for Christmas with the siblings. If it is wrong then leave a comment and I will change it. Also with that if you know what your family would like or need also post a couple of ideas for your sibling. It might make things a little easier. I know I have no clue what to get anyone.

(below) Just after Dallan got home from Wright, WY. McRae thought it would be a good idea for his dad to take a nap.

September has been a busy month for our family. McRae is growing like a weed and starting to become mobile. He army crawls all over the place, nothing below a 18 inches from the ground is safe. Dallan worked on a rig by Wright, WY the second week of September then left again less than a week later for Glen Rock, WY for another project. This one should last into November. I miss him when he is gone, but he has been home for a lot of McRaes' early life. I work part time at a liquor store. More for adult time than anything else. McRae goes to daycare when I work, it has been good for him to be exposed to other people and kids.

Well Brent has had his teeth for the last month and Ive been meaning to get pictures and I finally have here is Brent's Handsome smile doesnt he look GREAT! He is so happy to have his teeth here are before, during, and after pictures of Brents Teeth.

Stock Show

Stock show went well. Ethan's lamb(s) didn't make weight, but he still did fitting and showmanship and the breeding class. His lamb only weighed 106 and they needed to be 110. He still got some experience to help him for next year. Sierra's lamb did make it (114 lbs). The lamb sill needed a little more finish and she placed in the red ribbon class. Well next year we get a new judge and he'll probably be looking for something different than this judge. Anyway the kids had fun and did great. Dad did get a new puppy to replace Molly. Lamburgers were great, Especially since it was Nelson Lamb.(yum!)

School Update and Thanks

I would like to thank everyone for joining in on the family blog. I hope this can help us to keep in touch a little more and that we can let each other know what is going on.

School is going well for all, including me(Becky). Garrett is really enjoying Head Start, Katelyn is in 2nd grade with Michelle (Webster) Dawson, Ethan is in 4th grade with Amy Johnson, and Sierra is in 6th with Miss Ross for her core class and Mrs Lauralyn Andersen for band and then there are several others for a couple other classes. They all seem to be enjoying the new school year and for me this semester is going good, so far. I have a history class, Math, English 2010, Photography, and the Library Media class this semester, I hope to test out of the Library class this week.

Also this week is STOCK SHOW. Both Ethan and Sierra are showing. Their lambs look good and we have been able to work with them, especially since they are in my back yard, they are very tame and they come up to everyone that comes to the pen. We'll see how they do this year, hopefully we have what the judge is looking for.

Back to School

Tomorrow School start for the Elementary, Middle and High School here in Cedar. Good Luck to all the children going back to school, Sierra, Brian, Ethan, Makayla, Katelyn, Sam, and Garrett(Garrett starts Head Start on the 31st of August). As for Me(Becky) I start back to school on the 24th, and other than the price of books this semester should go well for me. I only have this semester and then 1 math class next semester to have all my general ed requirements finished and then have my GE associates done. I can't wait. Again GOOD LUCK TO ALL! and moms can have somewhat of a quiet day.

Brent's New Teeth

Well Brent has had his surgery and has had 21 teeth pulled. His recovery is doing well and is stubborn as ever. The surgery was on the 12Th of August and now he says his stitches are driving him crazy. Not to make fun of him but have to tell you the funny story about the day of the surgery. Picture this in your head when I tell this story you will just crack up laughing I know I do. We were walking out of the office to take him home and we had two choices either a walk way or steps well I told him I would rather take him down the ramp instead of the stairs, Well Brent all drugged up feeling pretty good not having a clue as to what the heck he is doing just starts for the steps my hands were clenched to his shirt praying he didn't fall down them. SO we are in the truck heading to my mom's to get Samuel and out of no where he reaches to the side to put the seat down and all I seen after that was his head flying back and the seat Dropped. I turned to him, grabbed his arm and asked if he was OK trying not to laugh he answers me with a thumbs up and just smiled with gauze coming out of his mouth. Then we got home and his stubborn side came out and I told him not to get out of the truck till I had opened the front door, well Brent grabs all the Wal-mart bags with his soft, Liquid diet and starts getting out of the truck before I do and he looked at me with a what ever look in his eyes and said he was fine. Well clearly he wasn't he got out of the truck and kinda stumbled around I grabbed his arm just as he almost fell back. One of his friends drove by and stopped. Brent all the time not knowing what is going on. His friend asked if I was beating the heck out of him and again Brent's answer was a Thumbs up all the while this guys looks at I have no clue who he is and just laughs. So the stairs to our front door were a blast Brent just started barreling up them. Well about 2 hours after we get home Brent starts to come to asking me all sorts of questions. He is doing really good already back to work and the stitches are already dissolving. I do have pictures but they are kinda gross so when he gets his new teeth I will post a picture of that. It still will be a few weeks hopefully only one but we will see how things go they are a work in progress. Hope you enjoyed the funny story about the day Brent lost his teeth. Meleah 2nd Birthday

Happy 2hd Birthday Maleah.
We had her party yesterday. It was a lot of fun. We played with bubbles and colored, read a book, ate cupcakes and opened presents.
Maleah is growing up so fast. She is a very busy girl. She plays a lot outside. She is physically hitting all her milestones but hasn't done well with her communication. So we have her in speech therapy because she only has a few words. We have only been doing it for 2 weeks and she have about 5 new signs and a few more words. It really has helped cut down on the tantrums at our house. She is just a sweet little girl.

Thanksgiving

Hello Everyone,

If don't know already, Dallan and I have decided we are staying home for thanksgiving. Everyone is more than welcome to come up and visit. We had a great time cooking up a storm last year so we figured we would do it again. Just let us know if you are planning to come up.
